Can I leave the CO2 cylinder in the gun?

This is a common question among CO2 pistol enthusiasts. Can I leave the CO2 cylinder inside the gun after use? The answer is no, you should never do that.

This is because CO2 rapidly wears down the valves, parts, and other components, which will negatively affect the performance of your gun. Therefore, it is crucial that after using your pistol, you make sure to empty it and do not leave any CO2 cylinder inside.

It is crucial to apply a drop of silicone oil or special lubricant to the tip of the CO2 cylinder before attaching it to the gun. The continuous contact between the metal of the cylinder and the valve metal leads to accelerated wear of the gun. At Mundilar, we recommend using Crosman Pellgun Oil for this purpose.

By using Crosman Pellgun Oil and applying a drop to the tip of each CO2 capsule, you can seal the gun, prevent rusting of its components, and keep the seals from drying out. This will enhance the performance of your gun and prevent wear on the parts.

Do you know how to use it? For CO2-powered and multi-pump airguns:

•  Place a drop on the tip of every three 12-gram or 88-gram CO2 cartridges before insertion.
•  Apply a drop of Pellgun Oil to the pump head of a multi-pump pneumatic pistol regularly.

However, please note that you should not use this product on pre-charged pneumatic (PCP) guns. Pellgun Oil is not safe for use in firearms that utilize high-pressure compressed air. Using Pellgun Oil in a PCP gun can be explosive and may cause serious injury or death.

Also, remember the importance of cleaning and lubricating your gun every 200 shots or every 6 months. Listen to and feel your gun, as you will likely be able to tell when it needs cleaning.
